Princeton Seminary has a very small collection of a dozen papyri fragments dating from the 3rd through 6th centuries. These fragments came to the Seminary as part of the Oxyrhyncus papyri dig in the late 19th century. The fragments were donated to the Seminary in 1915 and include letters, receipts, biblical passages, and religious prayers. Each of the fragments is written in Greek and has been transcribed and translated for easier use. We have also digitized each of the fragments and made them available for free through papyri.info. This site includes transcriptions and translations for each digitized papyrus fragment.
Due to the fragile nature of the fragments, we rarely pull the original papyri for research purposes. We encourage you to use the digitized version prior to making any requests for researching with the papyrus in person. If you feel like you need to see the original fragments, please request an appointment.
